Bexhill Hanoverian Study Group

OUR September talk by our member, John Bendit, formerly of the 95th Rifle Brigade. described the career of Wellington's only German general to command a British Army Division, Lieutenant-General Sir Charles von Alten.

Mr Bendit described von Alton’s valuable role in the Peninsula War, followed by his action at the Battle of Waterloo. After Waterloo, von Alton was involved in reforming the Hanoverian Army.

This month’s talk by another of our very experienced members, Rod MacArthur, continues the subject of the Peninsula War.
