Bexhill Photographic Club

THE Friends Meeting House, Albert Road, on Thursday January 8 was the venue for the first inter club competition of the season.

John Bryant our recently installed Chairman opened the evening's three way Slide and Print competition against Battle and Ore and St Helens who were represented in strength even on such a bitterly cold evening we managed a full house.

After the Sussex Federation representative Roy Stubbs spoke about the future of Sussex Slide competitions and if club members would support a new format regarding slides in 2009. He got a favourable response from the three clubs present.

Minus 4 degrees C didn't deter the audiences, Judge for the evening Keith Gibson from Seaford club soon warmed things up with his detailed and very constructive critique on the 30 prints (10 from each club).

Bexhill secured a 2-point lead ahead of Battle at the interval.

In the second half Keith our judge continued to mark the slides, again 30 in all (10 from each club). Bexhill once again excelled, this time by 9 points the overall scores were, Bexhill 361,Battle 350, Ore and St Helens 329. This was quite a triumph for Bexhill although we have been doing very well lately in the Sussex and Kent photographic competitions Battle has done so also. It really was a major achievement to have beaten them by such a big margin. Well done to all the print and slide contributors but most of all, to the two selection committees. Next meeting will be Chris Martin's lecture entitled 'Inside the Hidden Kingdom' on January 29. All club enquires to 216297.
