Bexhill Photographic Club

BEXHILL Club members had another fun evening on the first Thursday of January

Members submitted 2,3,4 or 5 images depicting their best and most intriguing observations of the famous art deco building The De La Warr Pavilion.

Members displayed a few unusual shots and also a lot of traditional ones, even a medley of pictures displayed on one board from a member who was at home sick with flu.

All of the pictures were approved and gave members food for thought for the future.

In the second half of the evening our treasurer and slide film specialist Sue Clarke gave us a treat with her showing of Around Bexhill, a nostalgic view of Bexhill some slides going back to the 1960's.

This travelogue concluded a very pleasant laid-back evening.

Last Thursday was competition night; the judge for the night was Nick Wiseman from Seaford club who is a very experienced and proficient critic. The first half of the evening was devoted to slides;

Pictorial Class:- winner Norman King 'Rhossili Bay'

Landscape: winner Brian Reeve 'Langdale'

Natural History:-winner Dorothy Reeve 'Sycamore in flower'

The small print class that included 14 prints 7x5 or smaller was next to be judged. Norman King was the winner with 'De La Warr downpour' just a point ahead of Dorothy Reeve's 'Black white and red'.

The Portrait Class attracted 11 prints and was won by Paul Carrington with 'Frank 2' just a point ahead of new member Vanessa Parker's 'Luke'
