A sunny, late-summer’s day saw the first signs of Christmas in Bognor Regis.

It was September sun outside, but inside thoughts turned to the festive season last Friday as the cast enjoyed its first get-together for this year’s panto at the Alexandra Theatre at the Regis Centre.

Peter Pan will open on December 16 and run through until January 3 (01243 861010).

Producer Hazel Latus said: “Our aim this year is to break all records.

“Peter Pan is a very special production with a great cast and its important Great Ormond Street connection.

“Our wonderful volunteers are ready to welcome everyone to the Alexandra Theatre.”

A big part of the attraction for show director Bev Berridge is that he knows in advance he will have a great audience in Bognor.

As he says, there are some venues where you can shout out “How are you doing?” and be met with virtual silence; venues where the audience will effectively sit back, fold its arms and say “Right, I’ve paid my £12! Come on! Entertain me!”

Not so Bognor: “We have been doing panto in Bognor for six or seven years; we have got to know the venue; and we know what works, what os right for the venue we have got.

“And this is a really good panto venue.”
