She explains: “The book is based on time I worked in a local nursery school. I think young mums may enjoy reading what happens, or did happen, behind the scenes at a nursery school.

“More than twenty years ago my son was teaching me how to use the computer and I decided to write a story to teach myself paragraphing, cut and paste, spacing all very basic stuff.

“I felt I needed a subject to write about and as I recalled some of the events and funny sayings that the children at nursery school had used, the idea grew from that.

“As I started to write them down I rearranged them into the correct order, ie Easter, summer, Christmas and the rest just followed. It mentions the town carnival, the bonfire night celebrations and also a visit to a nearby farm.

“The events are told from Aunty Wendy’s point of view.

“Wendy is an older lady who works in a nursery school. When she started many years ago the emphasis was on fun and learning. She feels now much of the fun has been taken away and the environment is full of rules and regulations, so she grumbles and moans and can’t always keep her opinions to herself.

“You get to know a little about the day-to-day running and activities of the nursery school and as the year continues the reader gets to know the staff and the children from Wendy’s point of view, which is not always complimentary – a light-hearted and fun read.

“It is probably a stand-alone, but I did work in a care home for a few years and have some memories and stories from there that may get put onto paper one day.

“I have written a few personal comedy scripts but this is my first book.”
