The event was held at The Spread Eagle Hotel and Spa and was the second of a series of literary supper clubs the hotel is holding.

On Thursday (April 16), the supper club offered guests the chance to meet and listen to Brighton authors Lizzie Enfield and Araminta Hall, as well as indulge in a delicious two course meal with wine.

Her latest book - Living With It - focuses on the 2012 measles outbreak and the controversy surrounding the MMR vaccine.

“It is about love, loss, anger, reconciliation, grief and acceptance,” Lizzie explained, after reading a few passages from her gripping book.

Joining Lizzie was her friend Araminta, whose first novel, Everything and Nothing, was chosen as a Richard and Judy book club read the year it was published.

The next supper club will take place on Thursday, June 4, at 7pm and features author Tess Burrows.

As well as being a climbing instructor, healer and motivational speaker, Tess has found the time to write a bestselling novel - Cry From the Highest Mountain – which has a forward by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and an introduction by Joanna Lumley.

Tess is motivated by her understanding that people can help the earth and make a difference - using her love of climbing to raise awareness and raise money for charity.

Other supper club dates include September 10 and November 12.

Tickets to the literary supper club cost £28. To book, call the hotel on 01730 816911.
