Cathedral concert will be happy homecoming

CHICHESTER will get its slice of singing superstar and former city school boy Jonathan Ansell this summer with a concert in Chichester Cathedral.

Two years ago, Ansell sang in the cathedral with G4, one of the final outings for the singing group that shot him to fame via The X Factor. Now he's back this July as one of the most popular solo stars on the circuit.

Ansell, who grew up in Bognor Regis, has emerged as a major talent in his own right, with two acclaimed solo albums to his credit. Now things are coming full circle with a return to the cathedral, where he used to sing during his days in Chichester at Bishop Luffa School, as part of the Festivities.

"It's exciting for me to be that close to home. It's a lovely festival to be involved in," he said. And although he hasn't lived in this area for a while now, it still feels very much like home. "It's so relaxing and calming to be by the coast."

As for the concert, he said: "I am presuming that it will be a full show and that I am going to work around a small orchestra, but I just don't know exactly yet."
