Cherubini atSt Mary in the Castle this month

Hastings Philharmonic Choir will be performing Cherubini at St Mary in the Castle on April 26 from 7pm.

The concert features wonderful music from 19th century Europe, some of it rarely performed, but also including a famous Romantic Concerto.

Cherubini bridged the Classical and Romantic periods. His Requiem Mass (1816) bears echoes of Haydn and Mozart, but with soaring themes more akin to the great Romantics.

To perform Brahms’ Violin Concerto the choir is thrilled to welcome back soloist Aysen Ulucan, who will also lead the orchestra through Brahms’ choral pieces: Song of the Fates and Song of Destiny.

The sense of drama in the poetry of Goethe and Hölderlin, is eloquently portrayed by the expressiveness and atmosphere of the music.

Tickets are on sale now at £15 and £10 (£13 and £8 concessions) £3 (16 or under).

They are available from Hastings Information Centre (Aquila House), IMAGEN Gallery in Claremont, Youngs, online www.hastingphilchoir.org.uk or phone 01424 552119.
