Choir will dazzle with repertoire in new concert

Everyone is invited for tea and cake from 4pm ahead of the music which will reflect the choir’s direction towards more contemporary classic choral music with strong spiritual impetus.

The choir presented music of Arvo Pärt last Autumn and this was followed by a Christmas concert which, together with old favourites, included contemporary and brand new works from Chilcott and Rutter. This week the choir presents more deeply religious contemporary music to move the soul. The concert tomorrow will feature an Eric Whitacre composition, work by modern American composer Morten Lauridsen, a new interpretation of Ave Verum Corpus by contemporary English composer, Colin Mawby, and a piece by Maurice Duruflé. The programme also has several Gregorian chants and early work by 16th century composers, Jacques Arcadelt and Tomas L de Victoria performed by visiting soloists. The sets are a mixture of a Cappella and accompanied music with Francis Rayner on piano. Tickets £12 (£10 concessions) and £3 under 17 years.
