Choral society anniversary season begins

HANDEL’S popular Zadok the Priest features in the opening concert of Bexhill Choral Society’s 60th Anniversary season.

This concert of baroque and early classical music takes place on Saturday, October 1, at St Augustine’s Church in Cooden Drive.

The first half starts with Haydn’s Te Deum, followed by Mozart’s Sancta Maria and finishes with another stylish setting of the Te Deum, this time by Purcell. The second half is devoted to Handel’s four Coronation Anthems, of which Zadok the Priest is the best known.

BCS’s director of music Kenneth Roberts takes great care choosing a programme he knows his choir and their audience will enjoy.

The soloists are Caroline Charnock, Camilla Bull, Roger Elias and Peter Grevatt, Sandra Lambourne and Karen McInally, accompanied by the Sussex Concert Orchestra.
