They hit the headlines around the world last June after valiantly continuing their Diamond Jubilee performance despite the torrential rain for the Royal family during the Thames River Pageant.

The classical quartet Amore made up of Peter Brathwaite, David Webb, Victoria Gray and Monica McGhee will never forget that performance.

David said: “We never expected it to get that wet.

“By the time we reached the Millennium bridge, it was actually hailing.”

Victoria said that, despite being soaked to the skin, she sustained herself with hot tea and cake.

She said: “Very British, we were. We were determined to do our job.

“It was an honour to sing.”

So, in pelting rain, they sang Rule Britannia, Land of Hope and Glory and the national anthem.

Her Majesty, not 25 yards away across the water, seemed to appreciate it.

Apparently, the Queen observed to one of her ladies in waiting: “They’re all here for the monarchy.”

“Oh no, ma’am,” came the reply. “They’re here for you.”

Since then this exciting new all-British quartet, have been spinning the classical-crossover world on it axis.

Formed of two guys – tenor David Webb and baritone Peter Brathwaite – and two girls – soprano Monica McGhee and mezzo soprano Victoria Gray – Amore owe their lucky break to a senior tutor at their college, who was in Starbucks when he happened to hear two Warner Music bosses talking about their search for young classical singers.

He proposed an audition for his friends and soon enough, they had a six-album record deal. They are now well on the road to success.

Ultimately, says David, it’s the group’s love of what they’re doing that helps them win new fans.

“We love what we’re doing and we’re passionate about this music and hopefully other people will enjoy it as well,” he enthused. And that, as someone once sang, is Amore.
