A Spokesperson for WSCC said: “Essential drainage works are being carried out to alleviate flooding problems which have affected the area.

“Extra gangs have been drafted in by contractor Balfour Beatty and everyone will be working over the coming weekend to finish the project.”

The also state that two new manholes need to be built in the road.

Weather permitting, the County Council will complete the work affecting the carriageway by Wednesday, September 25,” they continued.

Balfour Beatty will control the temporary traffic lights manually, which have been in place since Monday September 9, during peak hours to help ease the flow of traffic.

Despite the work starting on August 12, traffic delays hadn’t been an issue until the introduction of the lights.

The spokesperson continued: “The County Council apologises for any inconvenience caused to motorists and residents by the roadworks.

Drivers are advised to allow for extra time on their journeys or seek an alternative route.”
