LEADER Anne Tasker gave a warm welcome to members at their Christmas party meeting.

Business details were kept to a minimum in order for everyone to settle down to hear our speaker for the afternoon Mr Tim McDonald whose talk was entitled "The Origins of Christmas Carols".

We were taken on a fascinating journey sometimes going back many centuries to discover where our favourite and well loved carols came from, along with the music that accompanied them. Tim accompanied his talk with excerpts of carols and music on tape.

Following a lively questions and answers session everyone settled down to our Christmas tea and raffle.

Our next meeting will be on January 8.

Feel free to come along for a welcoming cuppa, chat and a chance to meet new friends.

We are a small club with no committee where everyone takes a turn to help by manning the raffle, sale and entrance tables each month.

We meet in the small hall of St Stephen's Church, Woodsgate Park, from 2.15-4.15pm every second Tuesday in the month. All visitors will be made welcome.
