Dutch circus at festival

Brighton Festival will go Dutch this May with a big-top spectacular in Preston Park, courtesy of the Netherlands National Circus.

Spokesman Chris Barltrop said: “They say it’s every Dutch child‟‘s ambition to star in the Netherlands National Circus. That’s because their national circus company is the best there is.

“In Holland, they like the best of everything; luxury and efficiency go hand in hand for the welcoming and warm Dutch people. The Netherlands National Circus has been the pride of Holland since it was established in 1948. Touring under a purpose-built top, the circus’s public facilities are more like a portable theatre than a circus, and the performance standard maintains the high level you’d expect from a respected national institution.

“It’‟s marvellous to be on tour here with such a special show. This circus is from Holland, but the idea of circus performance was a British invention, and the

circus is close to people’s hearts everywhere.

“There are no animals, and innovation and quality are at the top of the agenda for the

international company of human performers - terrific clowns, daring acrobats, thrilling aerialists and lots more besides in a dazzling show for all the family.”

The Netherlands National Circus performs in Preston Park, Brighton every day from Tuesday May 10 to Sunday, May 22. Box office on site daily 10am to 8pm or ring 0844 415 5228.
