The launch followed that of the Xbox One console the previous week.

Cassie Wake, the store’s deputy manager, said: “This is a huge night, it is a lot bigger than the Xbox One launch, which is surprising.

“For us (staff) it is great - we get caught up in the hype.”

Dozens of gamers collected pre-ordered copies of the console at midnight.

The store closed at about 1am and re-opened in the morning - giving the staff some well-deserved sleep.
