FILM REVIEW: A Better Life

A FATHER struggles to forge a better life for his son in Chris Weitz’s gently paced drama.

Mexican immigrant Carlos Galindo (Demian Bechir) lives in southern California with his son Luis (Jose Julian) in an area where gang violence is rife and families have to work long hours to make ends meet.

Carlos runs a mobile gardening business out of a truck.

When the vehicle is stolen by a casual labourer, Carlos’s entire future hangs in the balance as he races to find the truck and take it back, by force if necessary.
