First show by new arts group

‘Unexpected Pleasures’ is the title of the first exhibition by new Hastings-based arts group 4 on the Shore, at Stade Hall from August 22 to 27.

4 on the Shore was formed in 2012 by four established local artists, C June Barnes, Danny Mooney, Alison Purdy and Donna Fleming Hall, brought together by their desire to bring accessible artwork and design to the people of Hastings and beyond.

Each member specialises in different media – glass and mirrors, photography, paintings, digital art, wire sculptures, textile art and more.

Alison Purdy, glass and mirror designer and one of the founder members of the group, said: “We wanted to put on a really vibrant, colourful exhibition with lots of interesting things for people to see.”

Everyone who comes along to the exhibition and leaves their details in the visitors book will be entered into a prize draw with a chance to win one of several prizes including artworks by group members.

Opening times are from 10am each day until 8pm Saturday and Sunday, 7pm Thursday, Monday and Tuesday and 5pm Friday. Entry is free and the gallery is easily accessible. Visit www.4ontheshore.co.uk.
