Flossie makes welcome return

The Willows Folk Club in Arundel is set to welcome back one of the folk scene’s newest and brightest stars on Wednesday when singer Flossie Malavialle takes to the stage.

Flossie was last seen in the area when she toured with Show Of Hands, supporting them at Chichester Festival Theatre.

Chris Davis, who runs Willows, said: “A singer whose fans include such luminaries as Allan Taylor, Colum Sands and Vin Garbutt, Flossie is a comparatively new name to the UK folk and acoustic scene, but has already established legions of fans.

“Originally hailing from France, where she worked as an English teacher, Flossie came to the UK in 2000 where she swapped roles and began teaching French! Having always sung in her native country, Flossie began performing regularly in her local folk clubs, and from there moved on to take the national folk circuit by storm.

“Stylistically, Flossie’s repertoire is comparable with artists such as Eva Cassidy, encompassing traditional and contemporary folk, lots of old favourites, hints of jazz and even the occasional song in French.

“Flossie is also a great guitarist and a sparkling personality with a fabulous gift for relaxed and humorous audience communication, and always serves up magical performances wherever she plays.”

Chris added: “Flossie’s status as one of the finest new acoustic talents has been cemented over the past few years when she has toured as the support both for legendary duo Show Of Hands and also veteran folk rockers Fairport Convention, tours that have brought Flossie into many of the UK’s major concert venues.”
