Hastings Writers' Group

THE last meeting for this year was our annual meeting, held on December 10 at the Royal Victoria Hotel.

In his chairman's report, Ken Baker looked back at a successful Diamond Anniversary Year for the group. Some of our achievements were: the production of our charity anthology 'Diamonds '“ A Collection of Childhood Memories' which has already resulted in profits of almost 3000 for Demelza House Children's Hospice, RNIB and Xpress Yourself magazine for children in care; the setting up and expansion of our own website; publication of 'Strandline Vol 7' our anthology of members' work; forging links with Shorelink Writers, Southwater Book Group and Tenterden Writers Oblong; a childhood memories session at Ancaster Court Nursing Home; two successful Quiz Evenings, a Presentation Evening, and 'An afternoon with writer Jane Wenham-Jones.'

This year will bring some changes: Kate O'Hearn will be taking over from Ken as chairman and we will be moving to new premises at Alexanders, Masonic Hall, East Ascent, St Leonards-on-Sea.
