High Street Live gets Crawley Festival off to successful start

There were showers, but the entertainment continued with people of all ages coming to Crawley historic cobbled High Street to hear local artists and groups including headliners Strobe, with supporting acts Faux Falls, Stop Press, Glowing Sun and Wednesday Night Project.

The week long festival continued on Monday when the Silver Birch singers performed a lunchtime concert at St John’s Church in Crawley.

Tomorrow night (Thursday June 16) West Sussex Music is holding their 50 year celebration concert from 7pm at The Hawth. Tickets are available at the Hawth box office.

The Crawley Festival comes to a close on Saturday June 18 with ‘Mainstage’ in the Memorial Gardens from 12.30pm to 5pm.

The free show includes art workshops, a DJ skills workshop, dance workshop, children’s play area, street theatre, craft, food and beer stalls and the ever-popular Cultural Kitchen - a chance to watch exotic foods being prepared, then try them.

For the children there will be a bouncy castle

At 7.30pm, the Weald Choir and the Concordia Singers will join for ‘War and Peace – A Choral Concert’ at the Hawth, marking 100 years since the Somme.

There will be performances of ‘The Armed Man’ by Karl Jenkins and Haydn’s ‘Mass in a Time of War’. Tickets are available from the Hawth box office 01293 553636.
