Horror author’s funeral to take place

Celebrated author James Herbert, who died Wednesday March 20, will be commemorated by friends and family this week at his Henfield funeral.

A procession will take place from the author’s home to St Peter’s Church in Church Lane, Friday April 5, 11am.

Mr Herbert’s books have sold more than 50 million copies and have been published in 27 languages.

They include The Rats and The Fog – disaster novels with giant man-eating black rats in the first and an accidentally-released chemical weapon in the second.

In memory of the man and his work, The County Times has created a video of archive pictures of Mr Herbert taken a few years ago at his Henfield home, following the publication of his novel, ‘48.
