Horsham distraction burglary - photo released

Police have released a picture of two men they want to speak to, following a Horsham town centre burglary.

The 92-year-old victim spoke to a man outside her home in Bishopric between 2.30pm and 3pm on Saturday August 17, asking him if he was from the water board.

The man said he was, and then persuaded the pensioner to let him into her flat to test her kitchen taps. After he had left she found her bank books were missing.

The offender was about 5’8”, of large build and about 30. He had short dark hair, was clean shaven and was wearing a bright red top and dark trousers.

CCTV footage recorded in the area shows two men walking in Bishopric at around the time of the burglary.

Detective Constable Kai Murray said: “We would like to trace these men to see if they know anything about the crime.

“They may have seen people acting suspiciously in the area and could hold vital information about what happened.

“Please always remember to always ask for ID from anyone who claims to be from a company. Anyone who is reputable won’t mind waiting while you check.

“Don’t let someone into your home unless you have seen official ID proving who they work for.”
