Little Common Ladies Club - June 6

AT our meeting on Wednesday, May 25 our chairman Mrs Patricia Grayling welcomed Mr Clive Attrell director of The Antiques Warehouse Ltd., Old Town, Hastings to talk to members and guests about the World of Antiques.

In fact so many members had brought items along the evening was spent with Mr Attrell giving valuations on the said items.

They varied from glassware, figurines, vases, tea sets, clocks, jugs, a telescope and many more. Many of the items were as Mr Attrell put it (no value) fit only for boot fairs and charity shops. No doubt to the disappointment of the owners.

However several members were surprised at the value of what they had brought.

A Susie Cooper coffee set, valued at 300-500, a willow pattern plate 100-150, but the surprise of the evening was a (Scrimshaw) sperm whale tooth dating possibly about 1850 of American connection valued at 1000 plus.

Our next meeting will be on June 25 when our guest speaker will be from The Chestnut Tree House (the club's chosen charity for the year) and our cheque will be presented to her at the end of the evening.

We meet at 7.45pm at the Little Common Community Centre. All visitors will be given a warm welcome.
