Little Common Women's Institute - July 4

PAULINE Rosner gave a warm welcome to everyone at Little Common WI's June meeting.

Members were keen to see the display of group photos which were taken at the De La Warr Pavilion.

The competition of "items in a matchbox" was well supported and the cake stall looked very tempting!

As there are many new members, a second tea afternoon has been arranged for them. A lunch at the Star Inn was a great success. The next treat to look forward to is a tea afternoon at the Wheatsheaf.

Orders for 2009 diaries and calendars are now being taken. Christmas will soon be here! But first we have a special garden party to enjoy in August.

Although items put forward for the Arlington Show Competition didn't gain the top points, they were all exceptionally good and well presented.

Carolyn Cordwell passed the message of collecting milk carton tops to help the Chestnut Hospice For Children And Teenagers.

This is a very special place where help in different ways is always needed.

Louise Hobson gave an informative report of the NCM, held in Liverpool.

One of the guest speakers there was Sandi Toksvig, who was very bright and humorous.

Then it was time for a beetle drive, with a lot of laughter and comings and goings between tables. It made an enjoyable change.

Pauline reminded members of the July meeting when Mrs Kerry Bamber will be giving a demonstration of flower arranging.
