London Orchestra returns

The London Philharmonic Orchestra returns to Concert Hall, Brighton Dome on Saturday, February 18 promising some of the most touching and heartrending music from Serge Rachmaninoff.

LPO spokeswoman Helen Boddy said: “Written at the turn of the 20th century, Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 established the composer’s fame and has become one of his most enduringly-popular pieces. It’s well-known for featuring in David Lean’s 1945 film Brief Encounter and the theme from the slow movement was also used by Eric Carmen in his 1975 ballad All By Myself.

“The Concerto will be performed by rising star, Israeli-Russian pianist Boris Giltburg.
