The DS3 is a Citroen supermini and was the first instalment in the manufacturer’s DS sub-range.

We’re seeing a whole catalogue of Citroens taking the DS brand name that first appeared in the 1950s on one of the most iconic cars of the 20th century.

Wow, the DS3 is quite a sight. The shape of the car is traditional supermini with gentle curves marking its extremities and the wheels pushed out to the corners producing a squat, purposeful stance.

The real drama is in the detail. From ‘shark fin’ B-pillar and the contrasting roof panel to the vertical strips of LED running lights that flank the front grille and the distinct sill line connecting the wheelarches, the DS3 is ferociously unconventional.

It has the look of a concept car but you can buy it!

DS3 priced from £12,840.

Citroen DS3 Cabrio

Citroen’s DS3 Cabrio is anything but a conventional convertible - but then, that’s exactly why you might buy one.

If you thought you could neither justify or afford a cabriolet, then think again.

Of course, when you do have the roof down, you don’t want it to take up so much space at the back that there’s no room for people or packages.

In this DS3 it doesn’t, there’s space for three across the back seat.

DS3 Cabrio priced from £15,045.

Citroen DS4

The DS4 looks like a three-door coupe, but is in fact a genuine five-door hatch.

The panoramic windscreen extends backwards into the roof and the dimensions and its styling give the car a compact and muscular look.

Inside the leather-lined cabin, the driver faces an array of smart chrome-rimmed dials and a sculpted, contoured dashboard, embossed leather door handles, plenty of chrome detailing and cool ambient lighting.

There’s a panoramic windscreen, offering front occupants a 45-degree view upwards and giving the cabin a real feeling of light and airiness also enjoyed by those in the back seats.

DS4 range priced from £17,580.

Citroen DS5

Full marks to Citroen for the DS5. It really does push the boundaries of how many elements you can pour into the crossover mix while forging a unique personality!

The DS5 is the first Citroen model to feature PSA’s HYbrid4 technology. It has the ability to run electric power alone with zero emissions.

At the other end of the scale, there’s a potential combined 197bhp and 369lb ft of torque on tap if you really want to get a move on.

The world needs cars that dare to be different, and the DS5 is certainly that.

DS5 priced from £22,960.
