Musical treat to end public holiday

Acoustic, bluegrass and jam band Sixfifteen feature as main guests at Folk On The Coast at Bognor Regis Town Football Club, The Rocks, Nyewood Lane, Bognor Regis on Friday April 29 at 8pm.

Organiser Roger Nash said: “What a great way to finish the Bank Holiday after you`ve watched the Royal Wedding - a superb band featuring three excellent musicians who are really at the top of their game.

“We had them nearly three years ago at our former venue, and they went down a storm.

“Sixfifteen got their unusual name when they got together at The Larmer Tree Festival back in 2005. They secured a spot in the Acoustic Roots Café at a quarter past six and were asked back on the following two days at exactly 6.15 each day, and the name has stuck ever since.

“They got together originally to jam old bluegrass tunes around the campsites at various festivals. Since then, they have vastly expanded their repertoire with songs and tunes inspired by the creativity of Newgrass, via 70s rock and 40s jazz standards. The band still manage to squeeze three distinctive musical personalities into a cohesive whole without losing sight of the point of it all.”

Sixfifteen comprises Dave Soothill (guitar and vocals), Ian Robinson (mandolin and vocals) and Warren Ball (bass and vocals). Their influences range from The Beach Boys, Herbie Hancock, Eliza Carthy, The Copper Family to The Byrds.

“All in all, they have energy, a wow entertainment factor and are definitely worth seeing. Sixfifteen’s appearance at Folk on the Coast on April 29 will start at 8pm with support acts.”
