New dance sessions atSt Mary inthe Castle

This month sees the launch of St Mary in the Castle’s exciting HAVE A GO dance series; a monthly Friday night session in which beginners are invited to try their hand at a new dance style, then dance the night away with their newly learned skills.

Local professional dance teachers have been invited to lead the sessions, which range from English Ceilidh, Cajun and Lindy Hop to Argentine Tango and American Square Dance. Participants will be guided through simple techniques, then encouraged to put their new found skills to the test. Some of the evenings even promise live bands to dance the night away to, and St Mary’s Baptistry Bar will be open until late.

The series was set up by St Mary in the Castle trustee and nationally known ceilidh caller Keith Leech. Bob and his Cajun Dawgs will be kicking off the series on Friday, February 21 at 8pm, with an evening of Cajun and Zydeco - a night of music and dance from the bayous and prairies of French Louisiana where you can learn the basic two steps, waltzes and Zydeco. No need to book, just turn up and pay on the door.
