De Monde enjoyed chart success in the ‘80s with her bands Swans Way (Soul Train) and Scarlet Fantastic with the track No Memory becoming a club classic in the ‘90s; the track has been remixed and released several times by different labels.
She toured extensively in Europe and appeared on all the pivotal TV shows of the time including Top of the Pops, The Tube, The Old Grey Whistle Test, and MTV. Maggie’s first ever band appeared on TV with fellow Brummies Duran Duran and supported them on tour as their single Planet Earth hit the charts.
Maggie has released numerous albums and collaborated with some of pop’s most interesting characters, including Crabbi from Pop will Eat itself, and Martin Watkins from Marc Almond’s band. Cherry Red recently reissued the Swans Way album The Fugitive Kind and Scarlet Fantastic’s 24 Hours album. Other collaborations include the young Japanese DJ’s Kill the Hero. Outside her music, Maggie played Charlie the playwrite in Ricky Gervais’ series Extras with Sir Ian McKellen, and was in the Spat Group in the movie About a Boy. During the ‘90s Maggie ran a music club ‘Eldorado’ where she performed regularly and put on new talent. She also hosted parties for established acts including The Chemical Brothers & Richard Norris (The Grid.)
Maggie now lives locally and has a studio, continuing to write, record and collaborate with other artists and songwriters.
