Norma Winstone with Jazz Hastings

The next artist to dazzle for Jazz Hastings is Norma Winstone who will perform on Tuesday May 3 at the East Hastings Sea Angling Association on The Stade from 8.30pm.

Norman will sing with the Jazz Hastings Trio who are John Donaldson on piano, Simon Thorpe on bass, and Jon Scott on drums.

British vocalist Norma Winstone MBE regularly tops the bill at jazz festivals worldwide, and was named vocalist of the year at the 2015 Parliamentary Jazz Awards. In 1971 she was voted top singer in the Melody Maker Jazz Poll. She has worked with many major musicians, as well as with most of her peers in British jazz, including Michael Garrick, John Surman, Mike Westbrook, Kenny Wheeler and her former husband, pianist John Taylor. In recent years she has become known as a fine lyricist, writing words to compositions by Ralph Towner, and Brazilian composers Egberto Gismonti and Ivan Lins (who has recorded her English lyrics to his song ‘Vieste‘).
