Photographers’ double-takes welcomed by Littlehampton Museum

PHOTOGRAPHY could open up a doorway into the past, in a new exhibition Littlehampton Museum is planning for next month.

Museum staff are inviting people to join in the Lens Eye View by taking a picture of an old photograph held up in front of the place where it was originally taken.

The images should provide a fascinating link between the old and the new in Littlehampton and pictures taken by the public will be on show alongside those created by staff from the museum.

A spokeswoman for the museum said: “The result is a magical doorway to the past, combining the old and the new.

“If anyone has, for example, an interesting image of their street or house taken in the 1970s, or a pretty beach snap from the 1950s we would love to hear from them.”

The photograph taken by the museum team (above) shows what is required, and anyone who would like to take part should put their photo on a disc and send it to the museum at the Manor House, Church Street, Littlehampton, or e-mail it (see the address, below) to the museum by Saturday, March 31.The photographs will be displayed in a Community Gallery exhibition from Wednesday, April 18 until Friday, June 18.
