Praise is given to top pianists

GIFTED pianists were celebrated when the European Piano Teachers Association (EPTA) held the regional round of their national piano competition at the Regis School of Music in Bognor Regis.

No stranger to many of the 20 participants, having adjudicated the piano classes at the Chichester Festival of Music and Drama the previous year, the adjudicator, Rosslyn Farren-Price praised the philosophy of EPTA “to encourage, motivate and honour high levels of piano playing and piano teaching, and to promote musical awareness through participation in performing.”

Regional organiser Elizabeth Brooks said: “The standard of playing was indeed high and the following students went forward to play in the final national round in May. Elementary Albert Hunt: Intermediate I Kenji Luc and Samuel Macdonald. Intermediate II Tamzin Barnett, Advanced I Justin Kwok, Advanced II Sylvia Wong and Advanced III Helen Phillips.”
