Spokesman Julian Kirkman-Page (above) said: “For all you budding authors out there, once you have written your story, been through the editing process and have decided on your book cover, the next thing you want is for your book to be a success. For this to happen, people have to know your book exists, and this is called marketing. One key aspect of this is PR, press relations. By exchanging ideas and experiences with each other, we at Chindi have had marked success in gaining great press coverage in the local newspapers, also on local radio and on TV.

“But how should you approach the press in the first instance, what will gain the interest of the relevant reporters and editors, and how do you write that all-important press release? For this workshop we are delighted the Chichester Observer’s own Phil Hewitt will be giving us his own words of wisdom. Importantly, he will also be telling us what not to do!

“In addition, local media expert Helen McCusker will also be giving us her advice and pointing us in the right direction, helping us to maximise media exposure.”
