Pretty Things dress down for Born Free Foundation

On Tuesday July 2, staff at Pretty Things, in Park Place, Horsham town centre, will be dressed in pyjamas and onesies for the charity – and they will be joined by volunteers from Born Free, who will also be dressed down.

The fundraising will continue with an inspirational talk at Pretty Things hosted by Born Free CEO Will Travers on Thursday August 8, where guests will be able to participate in a question and answer session.

Pretty Things owners Louise Abbott and Sue Melbourne are responsible for the fundraising, with self-confessed animal lover Louise explaining how the idea was born when Mr Travers visited the shop.

Louise, 47, said: “Having done quite a bit of work for Green Peace, I was looking for anything I can do.

“I’m passionate about animals and they can’t speak for themselves, so this is a good chance to do something.

“Come and have some tea and cake, and support something that I really believe we should be supporting!”

Born Free is an international wildlife charity devoted to protecting hundreds of thousands of animals worldwide every year.

The charity’s headquarters are located in Foundry Lane, Horsham, and it is encouraging supporters to ‘do nothing for charity’ as part of the ‘Big Cat Nap’ week, which runs from July 1-7.

Mr Travers is the son of British actors Bill Travers and Virginia McKenna, who co-starred in the 1966 film ‘Born Free’ before establishing the charity in 1991.

Tickets for Mr Travers’ talk will be available in Pretty Things for £18, which includes tea and cake.
