With Dick Whittington, she will be leading a creative team of about 20 including eight professional actors, many of whom she has worked with for years.

Local girls and boys will also be part of the production, as dancers and rats.

Artistic director of production company One From The Heart, Daryl said that the key to a successful pantomime was combining a great script and strong storyline, with at least 25 per cent music, and not forgetting the comedy element, with something for all ages. Dick Whittington will include music from Bruno Mars and One Direction, as well as plenty for older tastes.

Daryl is full of praise for the White Rock Theatre, after producing last year’s panto, Peter Pan.

She said: “I adored doing Peter Pan down there, it’s a beautiful theatre. There is tons of rehearsal space.”

And despite having four productions in rehearsal at the same time - two of Cinderella, Jack in the Beanstalk and Dick Whittington - Daryl likes to keep a close eye on proceedings.

She said: “I like to be involved in every aspect of it. I am there a lot, and attend four or five days of rehearsals.”
