“But it’s not just stars-in-the-making the NYT is on the look-out for – they’re also on the hunt for behind-the-scenes technical talent,” said Paul Roseby, artistic director of National Youth Theatre of Great Britain added.

“Alongside acting, applications are invited for costume, lighting and sound, scenery and prop making, and stage management courses.”

Talia Pick, aged 15, of Chichester, is already a member of the NYT.

“My audition was awesome – I was nervous at first but realised there was no need to be because everyone was really nice,” said Talia. “I want to act as a profession, and being part of NYT automatically shows my commitment as a performer to broadening my horizons and the pursuit of something I would like to dedicate my time to.”

Paul added: “We’re looking to illuminate the raw talent of young people from across the UK with spark, passion, focus, enthusiasm, commitment and generosity. At the NYT we have over 50 years’ experience of investing in the training and personal development of young British talent and showcasing it on exciting platforms all over the UK and around the world.”

The closing date for applications is January 7, with auditions and interviews taking place in January and February at venues across the country including at the Brighton Academy of Creative Training, BN2 1PF.

Everyone who applies will be offered the chance to try out, regardless of previous experience. Applications are open to anyone who will be aged 14 to 21 on August 1 2011.

THE hits of the 50s, 60s and 70s including all the Christmas favourites feature in Worthing’s traditional end-of-year extravaganza (Assembly Hall, Worthing, Tuesday, December 28 and Wednesday, December 29, 7.45pm).

The That’ll Be The Day show returns with a brand-new 2010 Christmas format - a chance to join Trevor, Gary and the gang celebrating the festive season with their comedy routines and non-stop Christmas hits.

The first origins of That’ll Be The Day can be traced back to 1985 when a variety show called The Happy Days Of Rock n Roll was launched by Bristol-based agent John Mills for the club and cabaret circuit for a six-week autumn tour.

The show had a varied cast of rockers including Fred The Ted, Margo and Trevor, Terry Denton, The Rock ‘n’ Roll Circus band, and a one-boy, three-girl singing and dancing group called Fizzical.

Fizzical was the creation of Trevor Payne, who had enjoyed previous success with The Medium Wave Band in the 70s, including a number one-hit record in Malta, which Trevor also wrote.

The success of the first short tour of The Happy Days Of Rock n Roll was followed by further spring and autumn tours, and in 1986 Mills secured a summer season for the review at Butlins’ Minehead and Bognor holiday centres.

While Mills pulled in more dates for this fledgling show, Trevor Payne took on the responsibility of writing and staging the production.

Following a successful Christmas show tour in 1986, Trevor started writing a new show for 1987, which he called That’ll Be The Day for the first time - and it’s been his day ever since.

THE Treason Show - That Was The Year That Was 2010 offers a comedy review at the Pavilion Theatre, Brighton, from Monday, December 27 to Friday, December 31.

The Treason Show rounds off 2010 with a satirical look back at all that the year brought us.
