Second best? Not by a Long shot...

Next Friday is shaping up to be a very big night for comedy here in 1066 Country with not one but two top-class comics bringing their shows to Hastings.

TV funnyman and razorsharp Scouse gagsmith John Bishop plays at The White Rock Theatre, but tickets are now completely sold out.

However despair not comedy fans, because at Venuu in George Street the brilliant Josie Long arrives with her much lauded Edinburgh festival show (Be Honourable!).

It’s described as “a ramshackle call to arms” and was nominated for this year’s top prize at the fringe, so promises to be a cracker.

Long’s whimsical, unashamedly cerebral brand of comedy has won her an army of adoring devotees – fans does not seem strong enough – and her distinctly alternative approach is a neat counterpoint to Bishop’s more mainstream style.

Constantly inventive and effortlessly charming this is live comedy at its most artful and many thought she was unlucky not to win the day at Edinburgh. See why at Venuu. Tickets cost £8.50.
