Showcase for youngsters

Young performers have been confirmed for the Young Band Showcase at this weekend’s West Dean Festival (August 26-29).

Nick Davidson is the man in charge of it on behalf of the festival organisers (www.schoolrockband.co.uk/west-dean-festival-showcase.html).

Nick confirmed: “The West Dean Festival is offering a platform for school age bands and musicians (ages 11 to 16) to perform.

“Across the weekend, the main stage will be handed over to four acts each day, giving these young musicians the chance to play a short set in front of a Festival crowd. School rock bands, three-piece indie-rock bands, duos and solo singer songwriters, covering different genres of music between them, are all taking part.

“The music on offer is drawn from a wide range of influences, from bands like The Arctic Monkeys and Oasis through to solo artists like Damien Rice and Ed Sheean, as well as more traditional blues and jazz artists.”

The line-up is Francesca Clayton & Hollie Hammond (11 and 12); The Critix (11-13)

Tom Baird (13); Be All End All (15); Tamzin Barnett (15); Will Carkeet (15); Room 4 (12); Mhairi Mcdonald (16); Framework (16); Abi Burden (16); Educated Guess (15); Lou Reddin (15); and Peninsula (15)
