Band spokesman Chris Youngman said: “With a concert entitled Listen to the Band, the Band hopes to raise money for two local charities, AgeUK Horsham District and Horsham Hospital League of Friends.

“The Band has supported the League of Friends for several years through fund-raising events and by playing at their annual summer fete. The League will be running the raffle at the Capitol concert.

“This year the Band is pleased also to support AgeUK Horsham District, to whom they will donate the profits from the concert.

“As a community band we often perform in support of worthy local causes. We have regular links with the League of Friends and St Peter’s Church in Slinfold while in April the Band was invited to perform in St Mary’s Church in Horsham in a fund-raising event alongside their choir. The concert proved to be a triumph, both musically and financially, and we are hoping we can return there soon.”

Chris added: “Playing in The Capitol in support of the League of Friends and AgeUK is something the Band is pleased to be doing, and it is hoping that regular supporters of the Band will join with supporters of the two charities to ensure a successful afternoon.

“Slinfold Concert Band has been entertaining audiences in the south-east for many years, and following a sell-out concert in Billingshurst in November last year, Listen to the Band will provide another opportunity to hear the Band in a programme of memorable melodies under the baton of musical director Christopher Newport.”
