Susan joins soloists

Mezzo-soprano Susan Legg, head of voice at the University of Chichester, will join Seaford Choral Society’s Spring Concert at St Leonard’s Church, Church Street, Seaford on Saturday, May 7 at 7.30pm.

Susan will be one of a quartet of soloists in a performance of Mendelssohn’s Elijah.

The other principal soloists will be Dame Felicity Lott (soprano), Andrew Mackenzie-Wicks (tenor) and Matthew Rose (bass) in the role of Elijah.

Spokesman John Hamilton said: “No strangers to Seaford, as they are local residents, Dame Felicity and Matthew will be making their first appearances as soloists with this particular choir. Susan and Andrew make welcome returns, having both appeared with the Society recently and to great acclaim.

“Matthew went to school in Seaford and will be singing the role of Leporello in Don Giovanni up the road at Glyndebourne this summer.

“Rachel Parry leads The Exceat Players in the orchestral accompaniment and music director Sion Parry conducts.

“There will be a retiring collection in aid of Searchlight Workshops in Newhaven and tickets at £12 (including programme) may still be available at Seaford Tourist Information Centre and Newberry Estate Agents, both in Church Street, Seaford. “

The Sussex Harmonisers will be in action at Brighton Festival Fringe in The Old Courtroom, 118 Church Street, Brighton, on May 7 and 8.

The county’s own male barbershop chorus appear for two nights at the Fringe, as they prepare to compete at this year’s national barbershop chorus convention at Llandudno at the end of the month.
