Talent on display at museum’s first art and music festival

With two stages, performance art as well as professional artists, craftspeople, children’s activities and stalls the Festival promises to be an excellent day out.

Events coordinator Ally Davies said: “We are delighted to be showcasing the diverse range of artistic and musical talent from the local area and it will be really interesting to see how the theme is interpreted by each artist.

“We’re really looking forward to a celebration that all visitors will enjoy.”

The White Pit Arena will feature a main stage with food and drink stalls plus real ale.

Blues band Slow Fuse will be headling with support from a variety of acts including: Southdown Ramblers, The Logical Hairs, plus the Pandemonium Drummers from the opening ceremony of the Olympics last year, as well as many local musicians in the rustic Folk Barn.

Amberley Art Gallery will feature a range of work from local artists and the ‘Illuminating the South Downs’ project.

Drop-in art workshops will be in full swing too, where visitors will have the chance to get creative with colourful crafts.

The vintage bus and rail services will be available with an artistic twist as well as the traditional exhibit favourites which represent a wealth of industrial history.

The Museum will be open for the main 2013 season until Sunday, November 3.

The Museum opens from 10am to 5pm every Wednesday to Sunday, including Bank Holidays and every day during the school holidays.

Situated within the South Downs National Park in 36 acres of chalk quarry the Museum boasts a range of working exhibits including a free historic bus service and narrow gauge railway, electricity hall, BT Connected Earth plus much more.
