Spokesman Thom Williams said: “Setting an experimental trajectory with a clutch of razor-edged new tracks Brighton trio THE RPMs announce their return with their first live shows of 2017 and details of a forthcoming new EP: Agents of Change.
“Ever loyal to the town they love, the band will be debuting new songs, a bigger sound and beefed up line up as they headline BLEACH on 16th March.
“At the live showcase hosted by CloseUp promotions and TicketWeb, The RPMs will be joined by a tantalising bill of tomorrow’s talent in waiting - with sets from SISTERAY, plus local favourites STRANGE WAVE and HAKE also featuring across the evening.
“Hailed by the BBC as a 'spookily young Brighton trio with killer melodies and an Arctic Monkeys rasp’, The RPMs have made short work of gathering plaudits thus far. The choice cuts harvested from their debut ‘Digital Disobedience’ EP saw the three-piece notch up plays on Huw Stephens’ BBC Introducing and John Kennedy’s Shock of the New (Radio X), gain tip-offs from 6 Music taste-makers Steve Lamacq and Tom Robinson, plus a host of ‘track of the day’ features in the likes of Clash, Gigslutz, Record Of The Day and more.
“Hoping to consolidate that early buzz with their follow up, The RPMs aren’t planning to disappoint with the four scintillating new tracks lined up for their sophomore EP release ‘Agents of Change’ in Spring 2017.
“A band unafraid to reflect on contemporary issues, the upcoming release reveals a more serious and experimental side of The RPMs and lyrically sees the three-piece offering their take on the grip of social media in modern life.
“Emerging from the current Brighton scene that has also birthed contemporaries including Black Honey and fellow BIMM compadres Fickle Friends, The RPMs’ upcoming gig at Bleach will see the band reveal their new material. Busying themselves in last few months with constant rehearsals to refine their new songs and developing a bigger on-stage sound, the band are promising a high energy performance on 16th March and are looking forward to getting out on the road in support of their new EP. “
Speaking about the Bleach gig, front-man Jack Valero said: “We’re really excited to be working with Close Up Promotions on our forthcoming gig at BLEACH, playing with 3 brilliant bands Sister Ray, Strange Wave and Hake. We’re also very proud to be a part of a growing scene in this city of emerging guitar based music who are together shaping a contemporary sound that connects with younger people. Brighton is at the cutting edge of new music today and I think represents better what people are actually listening to than some of what you get from the mainstream.”
