The Wedding Singer

THEATRE stars of the future are putting the final touches on this year’s White Rock Summer Youth Project.

More than 100 youngsters have worked all summer to polish their production of The Wedding Singer, based on the popular Adam Sandler comedy of the same name.

The summer youth projects always make a stunning spectacle, and this one promises to be no exception. The budding dramatists, aged from eight to 18, will sing and dance their way through the story of Robbie, the broken-hearted wedding singer who gets jilted at the altar.

Expect the film’s more profane moments to be toned down slightly, as Robbie fights to win the heart of Julia, a waitress he falls in love with at his lowest ebb.

Director Colin Blumenau said the energy and enthusiasm of the young cast was ‘brilliant’.

“Working with young people is far more challenging but arguably more rewarding than with a professional company.

“The show will be fantastic because the young people and the creative team are working with some of the most dynamic musical material that the professional stage has ever seen.”
