Auditioning actors for Wodehouse production

Open auditions are being held on Sunday (11 October) for a Stables Theatre production of the recent West End hit show Jeeves and Wooster in Perfect Nonsense.

The Stables is one of the first amateur theatres in the UK to secure the rights to perform the show, which is based on the classic PG Wodehouse stories.

Director Chris Lacey is looking for three versatile comic actors to bring to life the parts of the superior but dutiful Jeeves, the effervescent and foolish Wooster and a variety of other characters.

Chris said: “This show calls for inventive acting, comic timing and has to be played at a very fast pace – to give one example at one point Jeeves is playing two characters at the same time. Quick changes of costume, character and setting are the norm.”

He added: “This is a theatrical delight and like all great comedy has to be played straight.”

The show will be performed in February next year. Auditions will be from 3.30pm-6pm on Sunday at the theatre and are open to all.

Scripts are available at the box office subject to a refundable deposit. Call 01424 423221.
