Beat the January blues at The Capitol with Barnstormers Comedy

Barnstomers Comedy offers its first show of the year on Sunday, January 17, at 7.30pm.

Once more, three top circuit acts will grace the stage with freewheeling Barnstormers’ compere Kevin Precious on hand to oversee the proceedings.

This month’s performers include the compellingly unique take-on-life of Chris McCausland.

After a harebrained idea that went a bit too far Chris first tried stand-up in 2003. In the 12 months that followed he was not only voted Jongleurs best newcomer but also achieved a top three placing in another three premier national competitions, including Channel Four’s So You Think You’re Funny?

He’s now playing some of the top clubs in London and around the country, including Jongleurs and The Comedy Store.

Although registered blind, Chris chooses to talk only occasionally about his disability. Instead his material spans from the real to the ridiculous – whether it be about university shenanigans or the depressing world of the giraffe.

Steve Gribbin is a diminutive guitar-wielding satirist from Liverpool whose scabrous comedy songs and off the wall observations have made him one of the firm favourites of the comedy circuit.

Steve’s original comedy songs combine razor sharp lyrics with genuinely catchy tunes.

For nine years Steve was the smaller one in the dynamic comedy duo Skint Video, stalwart’s of the Edinburgh Festival, appearing on countless television programmes such as Saturday Live and radio shows like The Mary Whitehouse Experience.

Damian Clark burst into the Irish and UK comedy circuit in 2005 and within weeks was hailed ‘the number one event to see’ and ‘cream of the crop’ by InDublin Magazine.

After several acclaimed TV performances in Australia, plus two comedy awards under his belt, Damo moved to Ireland where he teamed up with fellow comic Andrew Stanley. He wrote and co-starred in RTE TV’s I Dare Ya, which was the highest rating debut of an Irish TV comedy show to date.
