Dramatic family tensions in EastEnders writer’s documentary musical

Parkway Dreams is a documentary musical focused on a London overspill family moving to a typical ‘new town’.

Based on the creation of Peterborough, the production offers an insight into the 1970s and 1980s with intriguing life stories, TV shows including Crackerjack and The Clangers and the music of Abba and The Kinks.

Written by EastEnders’ writer Kenneth Emson, Parkway Dreams portrays the dramatic family tensions, tests of lifelong friendships and emotional upheaval of moving home.

The production explores the aspirations of the people at the time of change.

With historical pastiche, Parkway Dreams delivers an accurate picture on how ancient villages were transformed into modern new towns.

Eastern Angles Theatre Company held a reminiscence session at the Crawley Museum in July with local residents to discuss their memories of living in Crawley and how the town has changed over the years.

Parkway Dreams was inspired by these anecdotes, and they will be part of their touring display to accompany the show.
