Victoria Monroe explains: “I run the Fancy Dress Shop (115 South Farm Road, Worthing) and due to Covid have sadly been closed since the first lockdown. A few of us are part of a drama group so we got together and produced a mini panto as a way to use the shop’s costumes and bring a bit of joy to the community.

“It’s great fun, lasts 15 minutes and is full of colourful costumes and catchy songs. It’s personalised to each family watching and totally Covid safe. We perform the panto whenever people want to book. We do it outside as a doorstep performance so it’s totally Covid safe. The panto is a way of celebrating Christmas safely after a year that has been difficult in so many ways.”

Victoria, who is directing, said: “Cinderella is played by the very talented local actress Tegan Monroe; Buttons is played by actor Ben Cassan; and the Ugly Sisters are played by hilarious mum and daughter duo Michelle and Holly Turner.”

And they have been getting a great response, with delighted bookers describing it as a “fantastic experience and amazing value for money”. Others have loved the personal touch and hailed it as “very special.”

You can book the show on 07703 562256 or [email protected] The cost is £40.

Victoria added: “We are going to carry on doing this as long as people want it. We have done Worthing and we have done Steyning. We have gone as far as Brighton – and Littlehampton the other way. If it’s a bit further, we will just ask for an extra £5 for petrol.”

Her shop is open by appointment until she can open properly: “But obviously it is just not safe having people come in and try on costumes.”
