Guy Greenhalf writes that the ‘Out There Productions’ Christmas pantomime is “fast becoming a not-to-be-missed local tradition,” providing great entertainment and raising the theatrical cultural aspect in Battle, adding: “The villagers, minor roles and dancers were made up from local children and were rightly supported by proud parents and friends as they were given a rousing reception at curtain call.

Overall this production represented two hours of professional quality entertainment at amateur prices and Battle is so lucky to have a company of this quality in its midst. I loved the usage of modern songs in the performance, the Benny Hill moment, the Star Wars twist and the rather odd “Axe” sound effect, pure class! The sets created a convincing illusion of scale and depth, in particular climbing the beanstalk, and so much thought and effort has clearly been put in to costumes, lighting and props to make this extravagance, not least the surprise appearance of the giant himself. This production was produced, directed, designed, set and lighted by Avril and Gary Crawford.”
