Lots of roles available for Ifield Barn Theatre’s traditional pantomime

The Ifield Barn Theatre Society presents Sinbad The Sailor from December 3 to 13 and is holding auditions for the various parts on Friday and Sunday, September 11 (8pm) and 13 (3pm).

If you are auditioning, please make sure you are available for all shows. This includes dress rehearsals during the last week of November.

You do not have to be a member to audition but you must join if you are chosen to take part.

The group’s insurance policy requires this.

Performances take place on December 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12 and 13 with matinees on December 5, 6, 12 and 13.

The pantomime roles are:

l Sultan Shahriar: a pompous and overbearing, but otherwise quite jovial type (male)

l Scheherazade: a stately, patient companion to Shahriar (female)

l Princess Raisin: the more regal of the two principal girls (female)

l Ahmed, The Prince: a rich, visiting suitor to Raisin (female)

l Mesrour: the Sultan’s executioner, with a wicked sense of humour (male or female)

l Sinbad: Widow Duffcake’s son, the premier ‘principal boy’ (female)

l Kashoo: constant companion and girlfriend of Sinbad (female)

l Widow Duffcake: a typical pantomime dame. Saucy, emotional, madcap, feather-brained, outrageously dressed, volatile and energetic (male)

l Omar Khayyam: Widow Duffcake’s other son. A dreamer and poet. The other half of the comedy pair with Marco Polo (male or female)

l Marco Polo: an explorer, the other half of the comedy pair (male or female)

l Kaliban: the baddie – to be booed at all times (male)

l Ali Baba: rogue and henchman to the Kaliban (male)

l Genius: Slave of the Lamp (male or female)

l Eric, Ghostly Echo (male or female)

l Dragon (male or female)

l Mini dragons (kids)

l Citizens/slaves etc (male or female)

There will be small excerpts of the script to read for the audition. These will be available on the night. If you can sing this would be an advantage, but not essential.
