Stables Theatre starts ‘My Boy Jack’ run

The curtain goes up on The Stables Theatre’s World War One drama about Rudyard Kipling’s relationship with his son, John, tonight.

The cast includes Bill Allender, who takes on the role of Rudyard Kipling, and Susannah Mayor as his wife Carrie. Their children John and Elsie Kipling are played by James Slacke and Mae Jackson.

My Boy Jack was written by David Haig and takes its name after a poem written by Kipling about his son. The play was made into a successful film starring David Haig, Daniel Radcliffe and Kim Cattrall.

Commemorating the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War, My Boy Jack opens tonight, Friday 7 November and runs to Saturday 15 November.
